SGN: Rise n' Shine documentary premieres at SIFF

Rise n' Shine - A Hero's Journey is a short documentary film being screened at the 2010 Seattle International Film Festival. The film explores the journey of two local women, Ralina Miller and Janet Trinkaus. It is a tale of a young woman who, as a child, experienced a series of unthinkable events. It is also the story of a visionary. These two serendipitously joined forces to overcome death, disease, and discrimination. Their inspiring tale exemplifies the triumph of hope and the human spirit. UW Independent Film Certificate grads show their documentary at SIFF

Timothy McCormack and Rohit Agarwal, graduates of the 2009 University of Washington (UW) Certificate in Independent Film, have had their film project accepted by the 2010 Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). "Rise 'n Shine," an 11-minute documentary short, will air on May 22 as part of the Northwest Connections screening at the Egyptian Theater beginning at 4:30 p.m. Read full story...

Official selection at 36th Seattle International Film Festival!

Rise n' Shine is officially selected at the celebrated, Oscar qualifying Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). It will be screened during SIFF's Short Film Weekend (May 21-23, 2010).

SIFF is the largest and most well-attended film festival in the United States with 150,000 attendees expected in 2010. SIFF screens a wide selection of the best new international features and documentaries over the 25-day festival, presenting more than 400 films from over 50 countries. With extensive local, national and international media coverage, the Festival has emerged as one of the country's most accessible and highly publicized film events. SIFF is also a recognized Oscar nominating Festival.
